Yorkville Plaza: The Transformation Continues

By Lucas on Feb 27, 2013

Almost every Torontonian yearns for an exclusive suite in Yorkville. Developers like Minto, Menkes, and Camrost have projects in the neighbourhood, ones that have solidified the Yorkville’s legacy. Camrost Felcorp’s Yorkville Plaza is one of the most highly anticipated condo developments in the area because it is a redevelopment of the former Four Seasons Hotel.

Yorkville Plaza launched early in 2012, and since then, Camrost has experienced some great initial success. With demolition work underway, we decided to head up to the corner of Avenue Road and Cumberland to check out some of the work in person.

As you can see from the photos, Camrost and their team have put in some serious work over the past few months. They are working on gutting the former hotel in order to renovate the entire interior, +bringing an updated version of high-end luxury to the address.

There are plans for two more towers on the site. So far, all we know is that one of the new towers will reach 39 storeys, and the second one may be a more intimate building, possibly 10 storeys. In total, the plan calls for 883 new suites.

After looking at the renderings of the new towers, we must say we are impressed. The new towers will add a new vibrancy to Yorkville, all while playing off the architectural style of the original tower.

This is not the first retrofit development that Camrost has launched, and not the first one we have seen in Toronto. Camrost is currently working on transforming the former Imperial Oil Building into a new condo called Imperial Plaza. Projects like Yorkville Plaza and Imperial Plaza are great statements for our city, showing that we respect our history, and plan on doing so for many more generations
