The demand for new low-rise housing is heating up with the weather

By Lucas on Apr 19, 2016

As the weather heats up, as does the demand for new low-rise housing across the Total Market Area (TMA). We can’t explain the science behind it but warm spring days just make people want to buy homes. It’s a time for new beginnings and rebirth, which is probably why builders have so many new openings and releases planned for this season. Every weekend leading up to and beyond June, there will be new home openings or releases, and since inventory levels are so low, homebuyers are taking every opportunity to get their hands on some fresh stock.

Listed below are a few notable low-rise sites of the last month:

Markham Meadows by Greenpark Markham Meadows by Greenpark

Coming in first on this week’s Trimart Hot Spots list is Markham Meadows, a brand new community by Greenpark. During opening month, Greenpark saw 150 sales at Markham Meadows. Due to the successful opening, the townhomes are now sold out. There is still a selection of back-to-back townhomes available, ranging from 1,320 to 1,396 square feet, with prices starting from as low as $585,900.

Sharon Village in Sharon by Great Gulf Sharon Village by Great Gulf

Taking second is Sharon Village, Great Gulf’s successful community in Sharon. Thanks to a busy month of sales - 53 to be exact - all of the detached homes are now sold out. There is still a great selection of 20’ townhomes, ranging from 1,910 to 2,195 square feet with prices starting from $627,990.

Spring Valley Junction in Brampton by Lindvest Spring Valley Junction by Lindvest

The third spot is taken by Spring Valley Junction, a Lindvest community in Brampton that saw 24 sales last month. The community features 38’ and 41’ detached homes ranging from 1,953 to 3,467 square feet, and prices are starting from as low as $669,000. As usual, it’s not surprising to see Brampton on the Hot Spots list. Brampton led the charge last month in housing starts for new low-rise homes, according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).

Queensville in East Gwillimbury by Aspen Ridge Homes Queensville by Aspen Ridge Homes

Coming in fourth with 13 sales last month is Queensville by Aspen Ridge Homes. This East Gwillimbury community features 23’ townhomes ranging from 1,750 to 1,980 square feet, with prices starting at $550,990. Due to a high number of sales in the last few weeks, the 25’ townhomes and 36’ detached homes at Queensville are now sold out!

Lotus Pointe in Caledon by Rosehaven Homes Lotus Pointe by Rosehaven Homes

The final spot on the Trimart Hot Spots list is taken by Lotus Pointe, a Rosehaven Homes community in Caledon that had 11 sales last month. We would tell you all about the two- and three-storey townhomes and 36’ detached homes, but unfortunately, you’ve missed the boat. Lotus Pointe is now sold out!

The fact that so many of these popular communities are running out of inventory so quickly is a testament to growing demand, and the demand is only going the get stronger as we find ourselves in a traditionally busy season.
