Riverside Square Coming to Toronto’s East End

By Lucas on Sep 18, 2014

Over the past few years, Toronto’s east end has seen a flurry of new development, specifically Dundee Kilmer’s Canary District master-plan for the Pan Am Games and Tridel and Hines’ Bayside Toronto master-plan. The multi-building River City development by Urban Capital, just north of Canary District, is also one of the more prominent communities in the area.

Well, it’s time to add another one to the ever-growing list of new condo developments to watch in the east end. Streetcar Developments is now collecting registrations for Riverside Square - Lofts on Queen, which will be located where Don Valley meets the Queen Street Bridge.

Later this fall, Streetcar will be releasing an extensive collection of units, ranging from one-bedroom to family-friendly three-bedroom+den plans. One of the most exciting aspects of the Riverside Square project is that prices will start from just $239,900!

Designed by RAW Design, Riverside Square will feature dramatic angles, soaring glass, and innovative green roofs. Queen East has a very distinct atmosphere, which is largely influenced by the area’s architecture. Riverside Square will complement the neighbourhood’s existing buildings by facing Queen with only four storeys, which steps back to about seven or eight. The south end of the building, along Eastern Avenue, is where the building will rise to 24 storeys.

There are also plans to include a public square, which will be edged with retail spaces fronting on Queen Street. Streetcar lists a number of retail opportunities for these spaces, including a grocery store, cafes, restaurants, and other general retail.

Like most new Toronto condos, Riverside Square will feature building amenities that you have come to expect in a new residential development, including a state-of-the-art fitness facility, a party lounge, guest suites, a pool, and a spacious rooftop terrace with great views.

Living in the east end of Toronto

As mentioned above, Toronto’s east end is on the ups. The great thing about Riverside Square’s location is that it is already in an established neighbourhood. The area scores a Walk Score of 90, meaning it’s a “Walker’s Paradise,” because a car is not necessary to complete your daily errands. Even if you have somewhere to go that’s out of walking distance, you’ll be living right on the Queen Streetcar Line.

The neighbourhood is perfect for a weekend stroll. Step outside and stop in for your morning coffee at F’Coffee, a cafe that BlogTO raved about when it first opened, and it has a 4.5 star Google review! Enjoy your cappuccino or latte in one of the nearby parkettes, like Joel Weeks or Donmount Park.

Do you love going out to eat? Whether it’s lunch or dinner time, there is no shortage of restaurants in this Queen East area. Your most common cravings - from pizza, to sushi, tacos, and burgers - it’s all just steps away from the front doors of Riverside Square.

Also, Streetcar recently acquired the Broadview Hotel, which is just steps away from Riverside Square, and they plan on developing it into a new Toronto landmark. This new luxury hotel development will do wonders for the already vibrant neighbourhood.

If you want to live amidst the rising buildings of Toronto’s east end, but still want all the comforts and conveniences of an established neighbourhood as soon as you move in, then Riverside Square - Lofts on Queen by Streetcar Developments is the condo for you.
