New model townhome open at Canary Park Condos!

The day we were waiting for finally came - Dundee Kilmer opened a model suite at Canary Park Condos in Toronto’s grand master-planned east end community.

For those of you who haven’t kept up with all the development in the east end, Dundee Kilmer is building the Canary District, which served as the Athlete’s Village for last summer’s Pan Am/Parapan Am Games.

Earlier this year, Dundee Kilmer presented the Athlete’s Village to TO2015, the organizers of the Games. In preparation of the Games, the condo buildings were outfitted to accommodate the athletes. There we no kitchens, just temporary lighting, flooring, and walls. We had the chance to tour Canary Park Condos right before the grounds were handed off, but it obviously didn’t give us a proper picture of what the suites would look like when fully completed.

That’s why we were so excited when Dundee Kilmer announced a “block reveal,” where homebuyers and prospective purchasers could tour the new YMCA, walk around the neighbourhood, and visit a new townhome model suite at Canary Park.

We had seen the YMCA during an earlier tour, but it was still interesting to see how impressed everyone was by the large basketball court and swimming pools. It was also great to walk from the YMCA to Canary Park because we could see all the retail spaces under construction, and there were signs up in the windows showing what retailers were going into the spaces. One retailer that we had not heard about was Gears Bike Shop, which will be located on the ground floor of Canary Park.

The highlight of the tour was definitely the model townhome, which showcased a 1,300 square foot, two+den floor plan. Everything in the model is standard, including the integrated appliances, beautiful flooring, and stacked washer and dryer.

The den is set behind the kitchen, secluded from the main living area, which is nice because the floor plan is open concept, but the den manages to be somewhat private in case you want to set up a home office. We also noticed an abundance of storage space under the stairs and many walk-in closets - rare finds in Toronto’s condo landscape.

The 1,300 square foot model that we toured was starting in the low $700,000s. We think that’s a pretty good price considering the amount of space you have and the location directly across from the new 18-acre Corktown Common. The majority of the townhomes face the park, and if you end up purchasing one, you’re guaranteed to have that view from your front terrace and living room forever!

As expected, there was a huge turnout at the block reveal party. We wouldn’t be surprised if there were a bunch of sales that weekend. Occupancy is scheduled for spring 2016.
