Construction is underway and only a few units remain at The Eglinton!

Every time we post about the Yonge and Eglinton neighbourhood of Toronto, we mention how it’s one of our favourites, and now that The Eglinton by Menkes is under construction, we have one more reason to love the area.

In April, Menkes posted a few photos of the construction progress on their website. We first heard about the development back in 2014, so it’s very exciting to see that the tower will be rising soon! Hopefully the summer isn’t too hot and construction goes smoothly over the next few months.

Menkes’ work at The Eglinton isn’t the only exciting construction going on in the area. The Eglinton Crosstown LRT is currently under construction, which will give residents quicker, more convenient access to east-west travel. Also, the 1 million square foot Yonge Eglinton Centre is currently undergoing a huge expansion, and there are already many confirmed anchor tenants, including Cineplex, Metro, and LCBO.   

Since Menkes has such a good reputation and Yonge and Eglinton is such a popular neighbourhood for young professionals looking to live in a condo with convenient access to the rest of the city, we’re not surprised that there are only a few floor plans available.

The remaining units are studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms, ranging from 359 to 871 square feet. The Eglinton actually has a family/child friendly amenity space (that we’ll get to soon), so let’s take a look at the largest available unit.

The Heath

The Heath is an 871 square foot two-bedroom unit with two bathrooms and an open concept living and kitchen area. There is a balcony with a southern exposure that is accessible from the living room. The large glass doors allow an abundance of natural light to fill the main living area throughout the day. Another great feature of The Heath is that both bedrooms have walk-in-closets!

Yonge and Eglinton has been a quickly growing condo community for years now, and it’s great to see Menkes innovating by including a kids room at The Eglinton. More and more couples are starting families in condos, and in most condos, there aren’t any amenities for children. The kids room at The Eglinton features child friendly flooring and furniture, as well as interactive learning stations.

Other amenities at The Eglinton include a lobby lounge with a 24-hour concierge, a party room with dining area and gourmet catering kitchen, a billiards room, a theatre, a fitness studio, and an outdoor terrace with barbecue stations, dining, and a sun deck. There are also state-of-the-art private entertainment pods for multimedia programs and gaming that feature wifi, high definition screens, a headphone jack and device charging stations.

All of the interiors are designed by Mike Niven Interior Design (MNID), so the spaces will be creative, sophisticated, playful, and contemporary. MNID is also responsible for custom designing a few of the interior finishes, such as the kitchen cabinetry and bathroom vanities. Other interior features and finishes include ENERGY STAR panelled appliances, quartz countertops, ceramic tile, 24” front-loading stacked washer and dryer packages, and USB outlets for convenient device charging.
