Ontario’s very first outdoor urban village is expanding upon the success of its retail and dining offerings to now introduce its residential components. Developed by Cadillac Fairview and FRAM Building Group, the comprehensive residential plan includes the construction of seven building complexes, one conversion project, plus a park and community centre to be built in phases over the next seven years.

“This is a very exciting time for us,” says Niall Collins, Senior Vice President Development, Cadillac Fairview. “This urban community – eight years in the planning and several years in the making – is taking a step towards the next phase, introducing a unique interpretation of residential living to this vibrant retail, dining and office community.”

On Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m.,  taking place at 85 The Donway West, Cadillac Fairview along with FRAM Building Group and its architectural and design partners will be holding a community ribbon cutting celebration to mark the start of construction of the residential phase.

The inaugural building, Reflections, was launched in June 2009 and is 92 per cent sold. The 12-storey, 106-unit building will be the first of a series of LEED-certified new condo buildings at Don Mills, designed to maximize energy efficiency with heat recovery ventilation, water-saving plumbing fixtures, energy-efficient lighting, rain water recycling and a green roof. LivLofts, located at 75 The Donway West, will be a retrofit of an existing office tower, designed with a cool, urban village style of architecture to complement the overall theme of the community.

Boasting 14 storeys and 175 units, LivLofts offers 10-ft ceilings that create a loft ambience, with original exposed ductwork conveying architectural authenticity. Launched as a preview in October 2010, occupancy is planned for Spring 2013. For a limited time, purchasers will receive a $10,000 Gift Card redeemable anywhere at the Shops at Don Mills, to underscore the benefits of living, shopping and dining in this lifestyle destination.

“Being such an integral part of Ontario’s first urban community is a very important achievement for our firm and we’re proud to be the developer to deliver such a comfortable lifestyle within this village,” says Frank Giannone, President, FRAM Building Group.

Shops at Don Mills, located on the site of the former Don Mills Centre, is a mixed-use development combining a diverse range of fashion stores, restaurants, offices and neighbourhood amenities with parks, hundreds of mature trees and extensive landscaping. The focal point is the 58,125-sq.-ft. Town Square featuring an oval 7,134-sq.-ft. ice skating rink, a distinctive clock tower designed by famed Canadian artist and author Douglas Coupland, and Canada’s first robotic water feature designed by Karajaal of Quebec. Street names and heritage plaques reflect the neighbourhood’s rich history.
