OneCole captures Toronto Urban Design Award

This fall, the City of Toronto presented its prestigious Urban Design Awards at their bi-annual event recognizing designers who create outstanding urban spaces. This year Daniels’ OneCole Condominiums received the award for “Private Building in Context – Tall Residential”.

Developed and built by The Daniels Corporation in partnership with Toronto Community Housing and designed by Diamond and Schmitt Architects, OneCole Condominiums is located at the northeast corner of Dundas and Parliament Streets and was the first market residential condominium within the 69-acre Regent Park Revitalization in the heart of Toronto’s Downtown East. The completed and occupied OneCole includes 293 residences in its 9- and 19-storey towers and townhomes. According to the independent jury of design professionals, “The massing on the north side of the residence reasserts the grid and creates a residential-scale streetscape for the adjoining townhouses.”

At the base of OneCole residents can take advantage of the new Sobey’s FreshCo., Tim Horton’s, Rogers Store and RBC Royal Bank, plus they are just steps from the TTC. Targeting LEED® Gold Certification Standards, OneCole also includes phenomenal amenities including an impressive 21,500 square foot elevated outdoor park – called the SkyPark. “While other projects strive to provide a roof-top garden, it is no exaggeration to call this a roof-top park,” said Donald Schmitt, Principal with Toronto-based Diamond and Schmitt. In 2009 OneCole was recognized as the winner of the Green Toronto Award.

Since the sellout success of OneCole, Daniels has released two other market condominiums within the Award Winning Regent Park Revitalization; OnePark West Boutique Condominiums and Townhomes is currently sold out and residents have moved in and Paintbox Condominium, currently under construction at Dundas and Sackville Streets went on sale this past September and is nearly sold out after being met with an overwhelming response.
