Don Mills resident Dorothy Pestell has been living in the community since 1963 and has never seen anything quite like Shops at Don Mills.

“I love the open air concept,” says Dorothy, a real estate professional whose office is located within The Shops. “The stores are great, the restaurants are wonderful.” She says although the area was an open-air mall from its 1950s beginnings until it was enclosed in 1978, the contemporary urban village Shops at Don Mills has become unique.

The Shops have become central to her lifestyle, with everything she needs within a few blocks, and a location unparalleled for easy access to just about everything. “There’s tennis a short walk away. Beautiful Edwards Gardens is a 10-minute walk from here. You can be on a ski hill in just over half an hour. The Beach is 15 minutes at the most.” she says. “But you really don’t need to go anywhere. My dentist is right here, my dry cleaner. You can’t beat McEwan for food shopping.” She cites the town square as a favourite meet-up place, and frequently enjoys its community events.

Dorothy has been preparing for an upcoming move into LivLofts, one of the seven condo projects going up at Shops at Don Mills. The loft style condo was a perfect fit. With the recent release of Flaire, the third condo in this community developed by Cadillac Fairview and FRAM Building Group, Dorothy has also been considering purchasing a unit there.

Dorothy says it was the balconies in particular that spoke to her. Far from another brick rectangle, Flaire uses up-the-to-the-moment techniques to create undulating ribbons of concrete and steel that wrap the two towers, giving the project an original horizontal feel.

While the Shops themselves comprise unparalleled amenities, Flaire residents will also enjoy a fully equipped fitness centre, as well as a gorgeous lobby lounge by the esteemed designer Alessandro Munge of Munge Leung, who also designed the party room, complete with chef’s kitchen and outdoor lounge. A Miami-inspired rooftop terrace with barbeque invites residents to relax atop the four-storey podium that connects the two 11-storey towers. But most importantly, “It just feels like home,” Dorothy says.

Flaire will feature 297 suites featuring One-bedroom, one-bedroom-plus-den and two-bedroom units from 504 to 1,100 square feet start in the mid $200,000s, with larger combination suites available. For more information call 416-445-8868 or visit flairecondos.com.
