We say this every June – we can’t believe it’s almost summer! May already provided us with some blazing temperatures, and it’s supposed to get hotter over the next few months. To welcome the warm season, we are spending the whole month on summer tips for homeowners.
One of our first posts will be from Canada’s gardening guru, Mark Cullen. Summer is his time to shine, so he’s going to help make your home garden shine with some expert watering tips. There’s way more to watering your garden than simply putting out the sprinkler or standing out there with the hose.
We will also be featuring some home decor and maintenance tips, like how to let the light in and brighten your dark living spaces, and summertime solutions for when your laundry room is out of order.
If you’ve been cranking your air conditioning already, then you’ll appreciate the fact that we’re working on a post about the latest smart thermostat options, highlighting a few of the most convenient ways to cool your home and save energy.
So far, the spring market has been a rollercoaster ride. April wasn’t quite as busy as usual and new home prices actually dropped. We’re interested to see what the summer has in store. Of course, we’ll be keeping our eye on market statistics throughout June as spring winds down.
We recently had a chance to chat with Ben Myers, President of Bullpen Research & Consulting Inc., and we asked him what he expected for the summer market.
He said,”I expect the market to remain relatively tame. A lot of high-rise product launched last year, and development companies have their hands full. The market has cooled a bit, so there is no incentive to rush their projects to market, they’ll wait until they have all their ducks in a row.”
“The suburban low-rise market will likely stay cool, the buyers are predominately move-up purchasers from the resale market, so until we see several months of rising prices for singles, semis and townhouses, the market will remain flat,” he added.
