Tiny Details Make All the Difference at On The Danforth

By Lucas on Apr 08, 2015

One of Toronto’s most highly anticipated boutique condos is On The Danforth by Diam Developments, and we recently had the pleasure of chatting with Moninder Khudal, President of Diam, about the exciting project.

Before getting into the condo business, Khudal had a rich history in “ultra-luxury” custom home building, designing estates worth on average between $3 million and $4 million. In fact, he is currently developing London Towns in Oakville, which is a collection of three luxury townhomes, starting at $2.5 million.

Custom and designer features obviously raise the value of a home, but Khudal tends to focus his efforts on the smaller details that sometimes go unnoticed by purchasers at first glance.

“People are going to see the difference in our building,” Khudal said about On The Danforth. “The quality will be top of the line. It’s the small, small details that make a difference - how the kitchen cabinets are hung, how the tiling is installed, if the kitchen island is set right. We bring a high quality of workmanship to our developments.”

Khudal and the team at Diam Developments will be bringing their meticulous eye for detail to On The Danforth, a skill they have mastered thanks to their custom home building experience. Of course, there will be incredible standard finishes like stone countertops and spacious balconies and terraces.

Speaking of balconies and terraces, Khudal is proud that these amazing outdoor terraces will be equipped with gas connections for barbecues. Thanks to Onespace Unlimited’s beautiful terraces design, the outdoor spaces are quite large, and it would be a shame if they couldn't be used to dine alfresco. Khudal also hopes to have gas running to the interiors of the units, giving residents the opportunity to cook with a gas oven and stovetop - a very rare feature in condos. The tricky part is to install interior gas connections without adding bulkheads that compromise the 9’ ceilings, but Khudal is confident it can be done.

There will be over 130 units at On The Danforth, accommodating a wide variety of homebuyers. “We’ll have 25 to 35 year old buyers, we’ll have couples and empty-nesters, because the unit sizes start around 430 square feet and go up to around 1,030 square feet,” Khudal said. “There’ll be young singles, couples with no children, and even small families - there’s something for everyone.” Amongst these buyers, Diam is expecting a lot of end-users at On The Danforth.

Aside from the impressive architecture, good variety of units, and specialty features, the true highlight of On The Danforth is the neighbourhood. Located - you guessed  it - on Danforth in between Woodbine and Main, you’re in the heart of one of Toronto’s best up-and-coming areas. “What more could you ask for?” asked Khudal. “It’s on Danforth, on TTC - two stations in walking distance, it’s on the GO, you can work anywhere and get anywhere. A vehicle is an option, you don’t have to have the car if you don’t need to. The Walk Score is 96 out of 100.”

Known as The Danforth or Greektown, the neighbourhood offers an eclectic selection of shops, arts, culture, and entertainment. There is a whole lot to eat, see, and do on The Danforth, and you can read about it all at our neighbourhood feature by clicking here!
