How to plan the perfect end-of-summer glamping staycation

For anyone not familiar with the term glamping, it is a way to enjoy the outdoors in luxury. Since summer is coming to an end and the kids are about to go back to school, I thought it would be fun to give you some ideas on how to set up the backyard for a glamping staycation.

1) The most important thing is the tent!

You need to have a luxurious tent to truly glamp. You can either make this a fun DIY with your family or go all out with a designer model. I highly recommend one of the durable teepees from Fort McPherson Tent and Canvas. These are great for either a romantic retreat or backyard fun for the entire family. Another option would be one of these boutique camping tents found on fruugo.ca. You can let the kids help you decorate!

2) Go big or go home

If you have a large backyard and feel ambitious, you can really make a statement by creating an ultimate outdoor room with tips from Indeed Décor. They have some amazing ideas if you love the rustic look. Decorating a larger space for your glamping staycation also gives you the option to invite friends over for an evening.

3) Don’t let the bedbugs bite!

Sleeping in a tent while camping is honestly one of the worst parts of camping. That’s why I’m a fan of glamping. For a real night’s sleep, I recommend this Boho style faux fur lined sleeping bag from Cozy Nomad. When you’re back home from your long glamping trip, the sleeping bag will be amazing for winter nights in front of the fire.

4) Don’t forget to accessorize

The whole point of glamping is to get away from it all, but still have it all. So you need to fill your tent with some luxury comforts. Cozy Nomad has some sumptuous pillows fabricated from vintage handmade Turkish wedding bags with faux fur and stuffed with vegan stuffing.

The wedding bag story as told by Cozy Nomad: “In the old days the newlyweds would fill their wedding bag with all of the gifts from the wedding. The husband would take the bag by the horse hair straps and sling it up on their camel and tie it off as the couple would ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after!” No wonder I love these!

5) Fine dining in your backyard

Camping usually involves sitting around a fire, roasting hot dogs. Glamping involves fancy paper plates, cloth napkins and a nature inspired centerpiece on a well lit table. If you have a deck or patio, you likely have all of these things already.

6) Roll out the red carpet

Your glamping staycation needs an outdoor theatre

It’s actually pretty easy to set up a movie theatre in your backyard. You just need a projector, a white sheet, and something to hold that sheet up. You may also need an extension cord to plug in the projector. Imagine curling up in your luxury glamping tent, surrounded by your soft faux fur bedding and falling asleep to a movie.
