Newinhomes.com recently had the opportunity to meet Chris Markovic, the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, DUNDEE 360 Real Estate Corporation.
As a major player in the residential, hotel and resort development industry, we leapt at the opportunity to pick his brain about DUNDEE 360’s current projects and the Toronto market.
With offices in Montréal and Toronto, and ownership of the exclusive rights to the prestigious Sotheby’s International Realty Canada brokerage house, DUNDEE 360 is deeply entrenched in the luxury market.
Markovic has a multifaceted role, working with landowners, developers, real estate investors, property managers, and everyone in between to help realize the best uses and opportunities for their development properties and projects.
“We bring to the table very specific experience in certain sectors of the real estate development industry, especially in hotel and resort renovations or restorations, as well as higher-end, luxury, boutique condominium development,” says Markovic.
Most recently, working for Ivanhoé Cambridge, DUNDEE 360 received the Urban Development Institute of Québec’s 2017 INOVA Award for the $140 million renovation of The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montréal. The hotel was closed for a year for restorations and re-opened in July 2017 in time for Montréal’s 375th anniversary.
“We have a very deep and robust relationship with Fairmont ownership,” says Markovic. “When we were asked to get engaged in this restoration as lead project management, we were thrilled to do it. It’s pretty remarkable that in little over a year, we did a complete retrofit and upgrade. It’s a very important property in Montréal and we delivered it on time.”
“DUNDEE 360 is an extension of our client’s organization,” explains Markovic. They’re fully involved in the development process from beginning to end, offering site and feasibility analysis, project acquisition management, project master planning, economic financial analysis, a whole suite of sales and marketing services, and much more.
Basically, DUNDEE 360 can do anything you need them to do to develop a successful project.
When it comes to selecting sites and identifying the most potential, Markovic didn’t share any of his secrets, but he did say that DUNDEE 360 has their sights set on Yorkville and Midtown Toronto. They’re also working closely with projects in Collingwood, Muskoka and the Laurentians region of Québec.
“We tend to take on property work that is in flagship locations and I can’t speak for the overall industry at large to say where the hot pockets are, but we tend to work with clients on projects that are paired well to the Sotheby’s brand.”
With so many impressive projects under their belt and the recent success of The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, we can’t wait to see what else DUNDEE 360 has in the works!
