Wyatt Development Group first caught our eye when we saw the interesting contemporary townhome designs for Marquee on the Mountain in Hamilton. With the news that they have a new Oakville project, Water Walk at Bronte Harbour, coming soon, we jumped on the opportunity to chat with the Founder and CEO, Blake Wyatt.
Newinhomes.com (NIH): Can you give us a brief history of your experience in the new home industry?
Blake Wyatt (BW): My mother was an interior designer and as a child, I spent a lot of time with her on job sites and at sales offices. Watching the design process unfold was fascinating and I knew from an early age that creating beautiful spaces was my passion. Since 2006, I’ve been in the real estate industry as a broker, financier – in both BC and Ontario – and drawing from my various background experiences, starting Wyatt Development Group in 2013 was a natural path. It also fulfills my lifelong dream to design and build remarkable homes.
NIH: On your website, you say Wyatt operates differently than other developers – can you elaborate?
BW: We pride ourselves on being more like a custom builder. We give our purchasers a personal experience and they know their home is not part of a mass-produced community. We also hand pick every member of our team at every single development to ensure the best possible product is designed and built.
NIH: Now that we’re well into 2018, do you have any housing market predictions for the rest of the year?
BW: The long term fundamentals for the Greater Golden Horseshoe are very strong, with limited supply for low-rise homes and strong population growth. History shows you will always come out ahead when you treat a real estate purchase as a home, and look at it as a long term investment.
NIH: When will Water Walk in Oakville open to registrants and the public?
BW: Anticipation for these homes within the community is absolutely fantastic. We are currently accepting pre-registrations and we’re planning to come to market late spring/early summer.
NIH: What type of buyers do you expect at Water Walk?
BW: We expect to see a mix of move-down buyers and young professionals who share an appreciation of great design and are looking for a luxury lifestyle. Our buyers are at a stage in their life where they want the size and space of a single family home with the low maintenance lifestyle of a townhouse.
NIH: What’s your favourite thing about the Water Walk neighbourhood?
BW: You know the old real estate adage of location, location, location. Well this really is an unparalleled address. With a walk score of 76, residents will be within easy strolling distance of parks, marinas, restaurants, shops and all the natural beauty of Bronte Harbour. They won’t even need a car for most errands. For people commuting to Toronto, the GO Station is just a few minutes away
NIH: How did you decide on the architecture style at Water Walk?
BW: The location itself demands that we be the best we can be. So we felt that by introducing this style, which we call Cape Cod contemporary, the homes will complement the area and become a landmark for residents. We’re extremely proud of this collection of townhomes and know they will stand the test of time in one of Oakville’s most desirable areas.
NIH: Does Wyatt Development Group have any other projects in the pipeline?
BW: We currently have Marquee on the Mountain in Hamilton which is in the pre-construction stage. I have big plans for the future, so stay tuned!
Big thanks goes out the Blake Wyatt for taking the time to chat with us about Wyatt Development Group’s two exciting projects in Oakville and Hamilton. We can’t wait to learn more about both!
