Affordable townhomes continue to be a hot item in the new low-rise market

According to Trimart Research Corporation’s latest report, there were 6,573 new low-rise sales across the Total Market Area (TMA) in the first quarter of 2016, which is a 19.9% year-over-year increase. There were many new openings and releases in the first few months of the year, and one of the most popular housing types was affordable townhomes.

Listed below are a few notable low-rise sites of the last month:

Mayfield Village in Brampton by Regal Crest Homes Mayfield Village by Regal Crest Homes

Placing first on this week’s Trimart Hot Spots list is Mayfield Village, a master-planned community in Brampton by Regal Crest Homes. Last month, Regal Crest saw 48 sales at Mayfield Village, which features a wide variety of home types, including 20’ and 25’ townhomes, 30’ semis, and 38’ and 45’ detached homes. The homes range from 1,676 to 3,174 square feet and prices start from $484,900.

CityTowns in Brampton by Fieldgate Homes CityTowns by Fieldgate Homes

In second with 28 sales last month is another Brampton community, CityTowns by Fieldgate Homes. This new Brampton community is a part of Fieldgate’s very successful Valleylands community in West Brampton. The townhome community features homes ranging from 1,370 to 2,037 square feet and prices start from $409,900.

Kingmeadow in Oshawa by Minto Kingmeadow by Minto

Following closely behind in third with 27 sales last month is Kingmeadow, a successful community in Oshawa by Minto. The townhomes, and 36’ and 43’ detached homes are now sold out, but there is still a great selection of urban townhomes, ranging from 700 to 1,500 square feet, with prices starting at $199,990.

Stauffer Woods in Kitchener by Freure Homes Stauffer Woods by Freure Homes

Coming in fourth is Stauffer Woods, a Kitchener community by Freure Homes. Last month, the community saw 17 sales. Stauffer Woods features a selection of 32’ detached homes, ranging from 1,654 to 2,373 square feet with prices starting from $390,600. Kitchener is one of those areas that you should keep an eye on this year; Trimart predicts that it will be a hot spot throughout 2016.

Gates of Nobleton by Tribute Gates of Nobleton by Tribute

The final position on the Trimart Hot Spots list is taken by Gates of Nobleton, a luxury home community in Nobleton by Tribute Communities. The community saw 15 sales last month. The 60’, 70’, and 80’ detached homes range from 2,450 to 5,378 square feet, and prices start from $1,274,990. The success of this community proves that there are still buyers out there willing and able to pay the rising price of a new detached home.
