6 energy efficient features at BLOOM TOWNS

Barrie is one of the top selling cities for new low-rise communities this year, according to Trimart Research Corporation. A lot of families are considering Barrie a good investment since it has been designated an Urban Growth Centre by the province. The city is being smart about their growth with a significant portion of their future residential focused on already developed areas to protect the natural landscape. iVIVA Homes is following Barrie’s lead by designing their new community, BLOOM TOWNS, with many smart, energy efficient features.

  1. ENERGY STAR appliances

All the appliances in the kitchens at BLOOM TOWNS will be stainless steel and ENERGY STAR certified. When a home or appliance is ENERGY STAR certified, it means that it is at least 20% more efficient than what the Ontario Building Code requires. The kitchens will also feature quartz countertops and modern-contemporary European inspired cabinetry.

  1. Low-flow toilets and showerheads

BLOOM TOWNS will feature trendy square sinks and toilets with low-flow functionality, which will save you water. The showerheads and faucets in the bathrooms are waterfall style and are also low-flow. iVIVA Homes has done a fantastic job ensuring that the kitchens and bathrooms complement one another with touches of European flair.

  1. Double pane windows

The large windows at BLOOM TOWNS are ENERGY STAR argon gas windows. The double panes are sealed and there’s gas between the glass to increase the efficiency. What we really like about the window placement is that there are windows at both ends of the home, so you get sun throughout the day. This could save you energy in the winter by keeping your blinds open, allowing the sun to naturally heat your living space.

  1. Smart WIFI thermostat

Every townhome will have a smart WIFI thermostat that will allow you to monitor and adjust your home’s temperature using an iOS or Android platform. iVIVA Homes estimates that this will save you approximately 23% annually on your heating and energy bills.

  1. Heat recovery ventilation (HRV)

Since airtightness is one of the most important traits of an energy efficient home, an HRV system is necessary. The HRV allows for the flow of more fresh air and better climate control, all while reducing energy usage, thereby reducing your heating and energy bills.

  1. Efficient exterior siding

The exteriors of the townhomes at BLOOM TOWNS will feature cement stucco boards and fibre cement siding, which make the homes more energy efficient, durable, sound proof, and fire-resistant.
